Life Transitions and Stress

“The only thing constant is change.” ~ Heraclitus, Greek philosopher

This is one of my favorite quotes, because it is true. There’s no denying that life often presents us with our fair share of challenges. These can come in a variety of forms, but even life’s positive changes can throw us into a tailspin and leave us feeling stressed, confused, and vulnerable. With the right tools and mindset though, you have the power to not only overcome any adversity but also transform into a more authentic and confident version of yourself.

Some common life transitions are:

  • Moving away to college
  • Adjusting to university life or your first professional job
  • Getting married
  • Having a new baby
  • Parenting
  • Empty nesting syndrome
  • Breakup, separation or divorce
  • Retirement
  • Job loss or major change in career
  • Relocation
  • Financial gain/loss
  • Serious illness or disability
  • Issues pertaining to aging
  • Death of a loved one
  • Questioning the meaning of life
  • Questioning your faith/spirituality

Everyone handles change differently, but there is no change too small or big to navigate. During our work together, my role will be to encourage you, and help you see that even the most difficult change that is neither wanted nor expected, can influence personal growth. Change gives us the opportunity to learn about ourselves, what matters most to us, and what we don’t need to spend our energy on.
